Tacos Lupita

When it comes to finding tacos around Lake Nokomis, Tacos Lupita tops the list for locals. We’ll let the reviews speak for themselves.

Family owned and operated. Eat local! Great tacos al pastor. Best burritos in south metro. $2.50 for a huge horchata.

This is by far MY FAVORITE PLACE for Mexican eats. Here they “clean” their meats (like i do @ Btown-BBQ). Which means they take out the tendons/fat that is attached to every piece of meat. They take the time to eliminate the “schmeckus”. Which is huge in my book. The flavors are authentic. Tastes of deep southern mexico. Tortillas are homemade and made that day. This is a MUST TRY, if you call your self a fan of Mexican foods.

Hot Plate

Hot Plate is known for its unique Nutella, peanut butter and bacon pancakes. Our house specials include the Grand Marais and Carnitas scrambles. The caramelized pecan rolls are also a mouthful, try them and let us know. We also try new and original dishes on a regular basis. Those getting the two-thumbs-up are likely to make it into our regular menu over time.

Waiting times vary on weekends, but you can expect from 15 minutes on Fridays and Saturdays to about 45min on Sundays. We try hard to keep the waiting time to a minimum by keeping our table bussers on their toes and our kitchen running like a well-oiled machine.

Stop by, have some free coffee while you wait and enjoy your time. You will be glad to take a trip down memory lane, or feel free to ask what are those paintings and figurines, we might not know either, but they have been a conversation starter for many years now.

Bull’s Horn Food & Drink

This location has been a bar since 1935. Amy and Doug bought it in spring of 2017 and opened Bull’s Horn Food and Drink in October.

The bar was called the Sunrise Inn as far back as the 50’s and likely since 1935. It changed hands a few times but a sale document from 1958 lists that name.

Amy and Doug kept the feel of a neighborhood MN bar, added elements of their life and are pleased to share this dream with you!

You’ll find lots on their Events Calendar including Open Mic Nights, Meat Raffles, and Happy Hours.

Their signature item, the Juicy Lucy, has transformed the way America sees cheeseburgers.

Featured on several syndicated national TV shows, the burger stuffed with cheese has gained national attention.

Adam Richman’s Man v. Food put the Juicy Lucy on the culinary map.

In 2014, the Travel Channel ranked the 5-8 #1 in America for tastiest place to chow down.

Time Magazine also listed the Juicy Lucy as one of the most influential burgers of all time.

City Pages listed eating a Juicy Lucy at the 5-8 as #15 on its comprehensive Twin Cities bucket list, “50 Things To Do Before You Die.”

Their loyal Juicy Lucy fans have helped them achieve recognition as the best Juicy Lucy restaurant in the Twin Cities.

Parkway Pizza

A family owned eatery offering classic pies, plus gluten free and vegan options for dine-in & delivery.

They use local ingredients whenever available and grind their sausage fresh daily.

Craving pizza? Their delivery drivers are ready to bring you the best pizza ever, everyday, at no extra charge.

As many have stated, their homemade sausage is outstanding. We almost always order the Supreme which is overflowing with sausage, pepperoni, and a good assortment of veggies. We typically take out but when we have eaten in the restaurant, service has always been friendly and efficient. I love the “neighborhood” feel to the place as well. All in all, a fantastic place for pizza. One of these days we will have to try more menu offerings.

Chicago’s Taste Authority

They claim to have the only “authentic Chicago style food in the area.” The proof is in the fact they serve only true 100% all beef hot dogs, polish sausage and Italian beef.

Made fresh exclusively for Chicago’s Taste Authority by a fourth-generation family meat merchant.  No nitrates, No preservative. Never frozen.

Your Chicago favorites are shipped directly from Chicago to Minnesota.

As a result, Chicago transplants consistently drive from all over the Twin Cities to eat the food with which they grew up.

Some drive over 20 miles weekly to taste a real poppy seed bun and glowing green relish, they refer to as “Nuclear Relish”.

The extensive menu includes hometown Chicago originals, from traditional thin crust pizza to tamales.

Chicago’s Taste Authority sells 1,500 hot dogs per week, 2,000 pickles, 8 gallons of Nuclear Relish, and 1,200 pounds of Italian Beef for their Cheesy Beef sandwiches per month.

Their food is frequently featured in local newspapers, on radio, and on television.   Jason DeRusha, of WCCO-TV’s program, “DeRusha Eats”, declared the Italian Beef as his favorite in the Twin Cities.
